Ballet Classes & more, Bracknell, Wokingham, Ascot

Limelight provides a vast range of classes to suit each individual's needs. Once the required standard has been achieved students are invited to take their exam and move up to the next grade. Exams are held approximately twice a year in April and November. Ballet Classes

Ballet is the foundation for all forms of dancing, helping to build a strong, lean body needed for all dance genres. Ballet is an excellent way for improving poise, flexibility, performance quality and grace.

Ballet lessons - for all ages

Children can join our Ballet classes from age 2.5 years upwards. At this young age much care is taken not to put any unnecessary pressure on the joints and muscles and our lessons therefore centre on imagination, musicality and fun interpretation whilst gaining the fundamental steps and movements of ballet.

Once the children grow and develop we advise taking two or more ballet classes a week in order to gain the appropriate strength and technique needed for this genre. Guidance and advice will always be readily available so please contact us if you have any queries.

The discipline of ballet can have benefits in a variety of ways, not only can it help to build a strong body, good posture and flexibility but can help to develop imagination, determination and self confidence.

Ballet

Tap Classes

This fun, energetic form of dance is excellent for improving rhythm and musicality. Pupils may begin to learn tap dancing from the age of 4yrs upwards; classes for adults are also available and very popular!

Tap Classes

Modern Classes

Modern dance classes are taken by those children who would like to learn a technical form of dance that is slightly more upbeat and faster paced than ballet. Many of the core benefits of ballet will also be achieved in this lesson; however the music, feel and interpretation of both lyrical and jazz modern dance will certainly appeal to the more lively and exuberant child.

This form of dance will begin to develop more contemporary and lyrical style dancers and is a wonderful complement to Ballet lessons. As the modern lessons become more challenging and technical from Grade 4 upwards we do advise taking Ballet classes in order to help with the required demands of the Modern syllabus. Again we are always happy to chat through any questions you may have regarding this.

Modern Classes

Hip Hop Dance

The hip hop style of dance originated from the urban streets of America and has developed and evolved as part of the hip hop culture. Hip hop dance has become extremely popular over recent years, even becoming the subject of feature films like Step Up 2: The Streets. Our hip hop dancing lessons follow a strong beat and teach the most up to date dance moves seen by groups such as DIVERSITY

Children can take Hip Hop classes from age 5 years upwards. These dance lessons will help to develop good, strong, rhythmic dancers, as well as musicality and expression as much of the basis of hip hop dance comes from improvisation.

Hip Hop Dance Moves

Students will also get to have great fun when they learn to dance 'cool' steps to wow their friends with break-dancing, popping and locking at our dance lessons!

Hip Hop Classes

Limbering Classes

This class is specifically designed to improve a student's level of flexibility. After a long warm up, various exercises are taught that will help increase flexibility and suppleness that is so important for a dancer. This is an energetic and challenging class but extremely rewarding!

Limbering Classes

Street Jazz Classes

Street Dancing Lessons

The street dancing lessons are fun and exhilarating, offering a warm up to increase flexibility and stamina, followed by a fast paced routine. Using modern chart music and funky dance moves students will enjoy this energetic class.

At the academy we offer Street Jazz classes to all ages from 5 years upwards. No exams are taken in this field. Pupils find street dancing lessons fun, funky and exciting and are a great way of developing and exploring different techniques within dance.

Street Jazz

LAMDA Drama Classes

These exam classes are designed for students wishing to learn acting to a high standard. The smaller classes offer individual coaching, working on clarity and diction whilst enhancing vocal and characterisation skills.

Pupils will work towards taking their LAMDA exams either in Acting or Verse & Prose. Drama is an excellent way to improve confidence, imagination and articulation.

LAMDA Drama Classes

Limelight Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Limelight Academy of Performing Arts set out below are our Terms & Conditions. Please read them through carefully as you will be asked to sign in agreement when enrolling in the dance academy.

Uniform

All pupils are required to wear the correct Limelight uniform for their chosen class. All uniform can be purchased through us on receipt of an order form and cheque made payable to 'Limelight Academy of Performing Arts'.

We ask that you do not buy your uniform from other stockists unless approved by us as it is quite often the wrong shade of colour or slightly different.

Hair MUST be in a bun for ballet or secured with a hair band if the hair is too short. Please ask the class teacher for advice if you are unsure of how to do a bun. A neat and tidy high ponytail is allowed for all other classes including Theatre Class. No scrunchies or extra hair accessories please. Once issued all children must wear the correct uniform to participate in the class. Constant failure to wear the correct uniform may result in the student's exclusion from the class.

Payment Policy

Invoices will be posted to you prior to the start of each term and must be paid promptly within two weeks of the invoice date. Late payment will result in an administration charge of £10.00 being added to your invoice total. Persistent late payment will result in your child being excluded from class and eventually after all efforts have been made to recover the amount due we will take legal action.

All cheques should be made payable to 'Limelight Academy of Performing Arts'. Cash must be sent in an envelope with your child's name and class on the front, please make sure this is for the correct amount as none of the Limelight staff carry cash to school and are unable to administer change. We can only accept cheque and cash as payment. Any cheques returned to us from the bank as unpaid will be subject to an administration charge of £10.00.

Notice Period

We require one Term's notice in writing if you no longer wish to attend a class or classes within Limelight. A term's fee will be charged in lieu of notice.

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of all forms of dance and requires a great deal of training to reach the high exam standards. Children from Grade 2 upwards wishing to take exams should attend Ballet twice a week. Please be aware that if you are unable to attend two ballet classes a week you will take a lot longer to progress through the grades.

Office Hours

Office hours are 9.30am-3.00pm and we ask you to call during these hours with any queries unless there is an emergency. We know we are not always available due to teaching commitments but please leave a message and we will contact you as soon as possible.

Dropping Off and Collecting Children

Children's safety is of utmost importance, due to this reason it is the parents or guardian's responsibility to ensure that children are taken into the classroom and handed over to the teacher personally before each class. Please do not just drop the children off and allow them to run in, entrances can be badly lit and dark, coupled with the fact that a teacher may be late or sick this procedure ensures that your child will be safe with an adult until such time as the handover takes place or until the teacher arrives. Limelight cannot be held responsible for their safety outside of the classroom. Please collect children from inside the rented hall / studio.

Summer Show

Our bi-annual summer show is a major event in the school calendar and we dedicate the summer term to working on it. You will be sent rehearsal schedules and details months in advance and we ask you to read and consider everything before returning your consent forms.

Children will be expected to attend all rehearsals unless they are ill. We try to keep rehearsal time to a minimum especially for our younger cast members. It is a great and exciting event for everyone and a very rewarding experience.

Careers In Performing Arts

We may approach you if we think your child shows particular promise or talent and similarly you must inform us at an early stage if your child expresses a wish to have a career in performing arts. The reason we need to know early on is that there are many different factors to be taken into consideration when training potential professional dancers and actors. We need to discuss and advise on dance classes that should be taken, school subjects, diet and image, and financial implications.

Complaints Procedure

We have an open door policy when it comes to complaints and we would like you to talk to us about any queries or grievances that may arise so that hopefully we can rectify them as quickly as possible. All complaints should be directed to the Principal either in writing or by phone.

Cancelled Classes

In the unfortunate event of having to cancel classes the following will happen. If a teacher is ill and a supply teacher is not able to cover resulting in a cancelled class then an alternative class will be offered in the first instance or if this is not possible a refund will be given. We do not refund if the students miss class due to illness or other activities. With the growing inclement weather in this country we are beholden to the schools we hire to be open when and if snow and ice are severe. In these unfortunate 'Act of God' situations and classes have to be cancelled we will endeavour to offer alternative classes however we cannot give refunds due to the fact that the hire of facilities must still be covered. When bad weather is forecast please check the website to see if any classes are cancelled.

Photograph, DVD and video agreements

Photographs, DVD and video footage may be taken from time to time of the students at the Academy when they are involved in shows and presentations. Please read the agreement on your enrolment forms and delete as appropriate if you do or do not wish us to use these images in various marketing forums.

Facebook and social networking

We are very pleased to offer a social networking group for all Limelight students and friends. It will be your responsibility as parents to decide and allow your children to become part of this or not.

Please now fill in the appropriate section on your child's enrolment form to agree these Terms and Conditions. We must receive your agreement and consent if you wish to enrol with Limelight.
